UI ( User Interface) introduction
Hello. Today I'll introduce UI which stands for User Interface to you. Have you seen Minority report. Tom cruise featured in that movie. In the movie, do you remember that Tom cruise controlled the screen with his hands in the air? I prepare a video to help your memory.
He controlled the screen with his hands in the air. It is a kind of UI. The user interface is the aggregate of means by which people interact with the system such as machine, device or computer program. In the Minority report, You can see that Tom cruise is interact with the computer screen which recognize his hand gesture. Today, I'll introduce these UI's examples to you.
Second, there is a TUI (Touch User Interface). TUI is a computer-pointing technology based upon the sense of touch. Whereas a graphical user interface relies upon the sense of sight, the TUI uses touchscreen to the GUI so users can interact with device by their tactile input. The typical device using a TUI is iPhone from Apple. It is drawing world popularity with charming design and intuitive touch interface. Recently, It is released in Korea and It is selling like hot cakes. Feel the TUI as you see a video about iPhone.
Finally, there is a gesture interface. Gesture interface is a graphical user interface which accepts input in a form of hand gesture. The interface that using in the video about Minority Report can be regard as Gesture interface. If I show you the video you saw before, you would be tired so I have prepared another video. scenes in the movie are not future technology any more. A video I show you now is about a place I visited with my friend. The name of it is D'strict UX studio located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Korea. We experienced touch user interface and gesture interface there.
This is my friend and I. A staff in there took the picture for us. It is not important. Enjoy the video. We had an opportunity to do them which are in the video. They are novel and interesting.
First, there is a GUI which stands for Graphical User Interface. GUI vis accept input via devices such as computer keyboard and mouse and provide articulated graphical output on the computer monitor. For example, in Windows, there are many icons. When we click a icon with mouse, the icon's color is changed and if we do double-click, a program execute. On the other hand, text user interface such as MS-DOS do not have a concept of icon. Therefore, we should type command with filename to move a certain folder and type filename to execute program. We have been used computer conveniently because of GUI.
